From soulfuldetroit: Speaking of tempestuous ex-Temptations, I just saw this on the BBC News website... Ex-Temptations singer sues group A former singer with the Temptations is suing the soul group and the Motown label accusing them of not paying him millions of dollars in royalties. A lawsuit filed in Los Angeles claims he is owed royalties for the albums - Awesome and Ear-resistable. Barrington Henderson was lead singer in the band's ever-changing line-up for five years until he was sacked in June. He says the Temptations continue to use his image on records and on their website to cash in on him. Henderson is also suing the group's founder Otis Williams, who is the sole original member, for making alleged defamatory remarks. His lawyer, Brian Glicker, said Henderson was fired in June despite promises he would continue to be the lead singer. Social security "Williams said Henderson did not hit the right notes," Mr Glicker said. Henderson also alleges that during his time with the Temptations the required social security payments were not made on his behalf. Shelly Berger, president of Star Direction, which has managed the band for 37 years, said the group had not yet been served with legal papers and declined to comment. *********************************** The s**t done hit the fan people!

All I know is "it's gittin hot in hurr"! ;D Of course, all the O defenders are on the defensive. But the point is is that you mean to tell me that no matter who O hires, that whatever they do, is not satisfactory??? I think O should just get himself a solo career or just call it a day. O will never recapture what there once was. It's really a sad state of affairs if you think about it.

I am in total agreement that "business is business" and if Otis and Shelly Berger did do these things to Bo - it is Bo's business to sue them for defamation of character etc. etc. what not. Let's face it it is retirement time for Otis. Bo has his future and his career to think about. I deleted my posts at qt because I know some of those people are pro-Otis. Well, I'm not pro or against anybody BUT this is part of the BUSINESS also. I find it kind of ridiculous that past members of the Temptations can not use the Temps name in their resume when applying for new work/gigs. To me, it is ludicrous and absurd. If I leave my job, I have a right (especially if the parting was mutual) to use this job as a part of my resume. Some people are so blinded by loving Otis that they don't seem to think that he and Shelly Berger can be and have been wrong too.
It's past time that somebody stands up for themselves, if they can prove that they have been wronged. It's like Brother Malcom X said: "You either STAND for something or you will FALL for anything"... And yeah ((((Seain)))) it has gotten so ridiculous that I think Otis needs to retire and retire the Temps name.
The Temptations were known as a "Classy" group -- but not now! I know I would not spend a dime to see them, and it's not just about the personnel changes either. It's about all the drama that follows Otis' lineup. If it ain't one thing - it's another.
Peace and Blessings to (((BROTHER BO HENDERSON)))TEXT

This from Eurweb:
TEMPTED TO SUE: Former Temptations singer files lawsuit.
Barrington Henderson (Oct. 16, 2003) *Another former Temptation is on the warpath, and that path leads all the way to court. On Tuesday former group member Barrington Henderson sued the group, its label and group founder Otis Williams for allegedly failing to pay millions of dollars in royalties owed him, his lawyer said. Henderson, who was one of the group's lead singers for five years until he was fired in June, claims in the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, he never received royalties for two albums, including "Awesome," and "Ear-resistible."
The lawsuit also alleges the Temptations, dubbed the "Emperors of Soul" and one of the top acts to emerge from Motown in the 1960s, continues to use Henderson's image and voice on merchandise, advertising and a group Web site to further their own success and make money.
According to his lawyer, Brian Glicker, Henderson was fired in June despite promises he would continue to be the lead singer of the band.
================== Go head Bo! Handle your business Baby!....

Hey Winetender...we know what's going on! It's called pimping! Otis has been pimping since he ran the Classics away. He makes his living off of employing other men to sing classic songs. He knows that anyone who joins the Tempts organization is very priveledged because The Tempts were the greatest group EVER! It seems anytime one of those men start to look out for their own best interest, then it's time to hit the road. Just like Otis is entitled to handle his business, so are his other employees. He ain't the only one who has to make a living! ;D Good Luck Bo!

I guess that's why He went for the money & business part! It's sad that So much talent has gone to waste because of one selfish person! :'(Of All their recordings, how many "Leads" has he had? I hope Bo gets His well deserved settlement!

I hope he gets it also. This has also been an LEARNING EXPERIENCE for Barrington. It lets him know who is TRUE and who is FAKE. Namely some of his so-called fans.. Some of us just get on the bandwagon for "who's popular at the moment".... Alot of the ones that follow Otis' lineup are like that PLUS one in particular - I don't post at her site often - I just realized she sent me an email talkin 'bout she upgrading her site and people that don't post often will no longer be a part of her website... Uuhn hmmm... Yeah- right....
As one lady told another "You talk outta both sides of your mouth".. On the real!
Most of O's fans are just like him - if you don't agree with them - they don't like you... WELL SO BE IT! I (as Bo) have always been able to THINK FOR MYSELF.
Bo whatever the outcome is: You have gained my respect not only as a FAN but as a MAN who stood up for himself. Peace and Blessings to my BROTHER BARRINGTON HENDERSON.... All of us over here don't give a dayum what nobody else says... (((Winetender))) WELCOME BABY!
