He produced the last two LP's the Tempts did for Motown in the seventies, I think, before the Tempts left. I read somewhere once that Jeffrey preferred Dennis voice over the other members plus also used other singers besides the Tempts on some cuts on the LP. This caused friction within the group & was part of the reason why Dennis was put out the group, besides the partying & the drugs. What's your take on this?

Okay, now everything makes a little more sense. At that point, Dennis was the strongest vocal in the group. This put him a cut above the others. You know certain folkz don't like that stuff. It appears that when one singer gets a lot of attention, that singer always has a problem. It makes me wonder if the attention this person gets makes him ack a fool or do others ack a fool because this person is getting attention. Somehow, I don't believe that those who were fired had disciplinary problems as sources say they did. I think it was more personality clashes than anything. Strong personalities are always challenged.

I love that song "Soulmate" (released on "25th Anniversary" and "One By One"). Isn't that song one by Jeffrey Bowen? You can't even hear the Tempts in background (I wonder if it's even them). That song was done but not released circa 1975 (I think). Dennis definitely was De Man by then. If it hadn't been for Dennis, the Tempts would have died after '71. I mean, look at what happened to them when Dennis left in the 70's. The Tempts left Motown and nobody even gave a damn LOL! Later.

Hey Duchess! Great to see you over here! You know, I've yet heard that song "Soulmate" from the Tempts 25th Anniversary LP. For shame! LOL! I like "Power", especially, because they went back to the Norman formula of switching off leads. You heard Richard & Glenn on the song plus Melvin singing along with the bassline. Pretty neat. And I agree, that once Dennis left, it seems like the Tempts ceased to exist. I like your little birdy! LOL! I'm trying to find a decent graphic to put under my name. I'll think of something.
