I had the pleasure of seeing The Temptations Review at a concert in Lisle yesterday. I must say I was quite impressed. First of all it was extremely warm yesterday and the Review performed in white suits. They were impeccably dressed. They were scheduled to perform at 6 and I arrived at the stage area at 6:15 and they were already into Standing On The Top. Oh, my, I didn't think the show would start on time. Lucky me! Someone offered me a seat right in front. Mr. Sea did a wonderful rendition of Lady Soul, Beauty's Only Skin Deep, and It's Growing. I noticed they added a few new songs to the act. I was surprised when Chris Arnold sang a few bars of Can I. To me, Mr. Arnold does not sound like Eddie Kendricks, but on this number, he sounded so much like Eddie, it brought a tear to my eye, voice was crystal clear. David Sea and Chris Arnold also sang You're My Everything very, very well. Mike Patillo teased us with a few bars of I Truly Believe. Of course, Bernard Gibson tore it up with his rendition of Don't Look Back. I get a kick out of him singing that song! They also did the usual Dennis leads, but Dennis tore it up when he sang God Bless America (land that he loves) Flags started waving everywhere. I got kind of teary when Dennis paid homage to his Temptation brothers. It seems he misses them terribly. The crowd roared when he called David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks' name. I heard some yelling we miss and love you! I thought the stage was going to cave in when Dennis started singing Stay. I really think Dennis and especially Chris get a big kick out of doing that song. As usual, they ended the show with My Girl and Imagination. The guys looked spectacular and appear to be doing well. Mike Patillo has a new hairdo, it looks good on him, a low cut. They have appeared to switch leads on some songs; I thought Chris was singing lead on Imagination, but Bernard took over and did a hell of a job. Once again, the Review put on one hell of a show! I am glad Dennis is doing his part to keep up the wonderful legacy. He is a blessing. I wish them all well! Keep up the good work guys!
The Spinners were also on the show, but I had no desire to see them after the Review, so I politely left.
