You must be pretty "techie" to be transferring records on to cd, huh? Do you get much hiss or pops? Is transferring it difficult to do? Does it require a bunch of expensive equipment other than a computer? (no no you weren't boring me!) I'd love to get a hold of the ruffin material as well, of course.
Sidenote: I love "rode by the place where we used to stay" because you know he's bullshitting about "well I was out driving" .... that's just heartbreaking and brilliant, the nuanced performance of putting up the front like you're strong and it's not really important to you but you're dying on the inside.
Later. This is one great forum, glad I came across it.

Nah, Kidcapri. I'm far from being a techie. I wish! ;D I bought something called "Sony restoration kit" & what that does is "clean" up your records/cassettes. You can eliminate all the hisses & pops from your records or the "white noise" that you sometimes hear on cassettes. It's pretty neat. It'll cost you around $50, but it is worth it if you have some records that you really want to hear & want to burn them to CD. Now, if I really if I didn't want to be bothered with using the CD restoration kit, I could simply spend money on cleaning solution to simply clean the vinyl. Of course, if you want a good alcohol solution, it's gonna cost you too. And you have to keep buying it once it runs out. Nope, you don't need a whole lot of equipment. Transfering from LPs & cassettes to CD is not hard at all. All you need is a "y cable. Go to any electronics store & explain to what type of cable you are looking for, which is one that can connect your stereo to your computer so you can burn or transfer songs to your computer. Man, I love most of the songs that David has sung. Some I can do without, give & take. You really gave a great description of "Rode...." that I really never even though of. That's a good one!

Your generation drop the ball, my dear! So you guys have no one else to blame but yourselves, Mz count..., er, I mean, Mz cityslicker! ;D

Yo. I won that "wish it would rain/in a mellow mood" cd on ebay! Thanks for the tip. I was just reading about ruffin over at www.allmusic.com and came across something wild: "A remake of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes' "I Miss You" works well, but would have been better if they had included the whole song, Eddie Kendricks joins David at the fade; his contributions are more on Part 2, which Motown omitted. " Wow! Has anyone heard the full version? Eddie's so good with his cool spoken word raps that I imagine he'd be perfect doing harold melvins part on part 2 of I miss You. I also read some depressing stuff in the local paper recently about david's treatment of tammi terrell that I won't repeat here......ugh. Later.

You're quite welcome, Kidcapri. The question will always remain as to why Motown only released half of "I Miss You". The mystery endures..... As for the whole David & Tammi saga, it's pretty much old news plus alot of it is just rumors & innuendos. Someone is writing a book about Tammi as we speak, so we'll just have to wait & see. I'm out!

Sorrry, it took me so long CP, but ROUGH DRIED means exactly what it says. Not dried in a dryer, maybe hung on the back of a chair and once it is dry, very little or no ironing. KidCapri - he got it! lol!
